Building a Woodshed with Salvaged Materials

Building a Woodshed with Salvaged Materials

Why we wanted to build a woodshed: We want to cut from our land all of the firewood we burn in our woodstove, which is our only heat source. This year, that wasn’t a problem as we needed to cut down many trees to clear a right of way for our power line. We did have a problem of not having a place to put the wood once it was cut, so I decided we needed a woodshed. And since…

2017 A Year in Review

2017 A Year in Review

2017 was the year we jumped into this adventure with both feet. We’re doing it. We’re living in our cabin and making our home here. We have had lots of changes and have learned a lot. This time last year we were packing up our house in town, preparing to be in a friend’s wedding, attending many family Christmases—all around the same time! Because of this, we wanted to buy a plow truck or tractor to plow the snow ourselves.     We considered several ways to clear our driveway including a plow truck than we never use on the roads, A nice plow truck, a tractor with a snow…

They’re Going to Want Propane to Run Their Stove

They’re Going to Want Propane to Run Their Stove

After doing some research we decided that we wanted to get two 100 lb. tanks for propane that we could bring to town to get filled when we want rather than having a large tank and needed to deal with deliveries. We ordered some from U-Haul and had them delivered, we ordered a regulator that would automatically switch between tanks when one was empty and hoses from Amazon. The U-Haul delivery went just fine, but the Amazon delivery didn’t come…
